The State of Ohio is taking exciting steps to require certain businesses to uphold consumer privacy rights and protect consumer privacy with a proposed state law - Ohio’s Personal Privacy Act (OPPA). You make have heard of different federal laws and regulations that speak to the use and sharing of personal information such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). Over the past decade, some other states have created and launched their own laws related to protecting consumer privacy such as California, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
Workday go-live might not seem like something to celebrate six months later, considering our user community is still adjusting to the changes. However, it's exciting to think that the closing of fiscal year 2021 is the first annual close using transactional data from Workday! We all should be proud and keep in mind that we collectively implemented an entire enterprise system, during a pandemic, at a size and level of complexity not undertaken before at Ohio State!
