Clearing the AIR About Data Governance
Henry Zheng, Senior Associate Vice President for Strategic Analytics at Ohio State and Vaughn Hopkins, Executive Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Analytics, Delaware State University, are collaborating on a series of monthly data governance articles published on the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) website.
The goal of each monthly article is to "demystify the concept of data governance by explaining the key elements of data governance, the stakeholders involved, the implementation process, and the key success factors."
In the February article, "Data Governance: It's a Process," Zheng and Hopkins share that while data governance isn't as simple and "turn-key” as some vendors might convey, it is also not something that is doomed from the beginning.
Ohio State's data governance goals and the monthly AIR features both mesh nicely with the overall AIR mission, "Empowering professionals of all levels to utilize data, analytics, information, and evidence to make decisions and take actions that benefit students and institutions for the improvement higher education."
