New Year, New Cybersecurity for You Activities

Cybersecurity is a hot topic in our new year, with recent data breaches compromising user security and new regulations being proposed in the U.S. Congress. Advancements in personal technology and confusing consumer privacy policies can make it exceedingly difficult to protect your digital life.  

That's where Cybersecurity for You (C4U) comes in! On this cybersecurity awareness platform, Ohio State faculty and staff can learn to protect themselves from these cyber threats by completing activities and achievements. 

Visiting the platform and engaging in the activities will allow users to:  

  • Discover university technologies and learn about cybersecurity efforts in the “OSU & You” series. Topics include:  

    • Discussing the importance of privacy and how the university community is taking action to protect Ohio State

    • Reporting and avoiding falling for phishing scams  

    • Sending documents securely utilizing Office 365’s tools 

    • Incident reporting and how to handle potential data loss  

    • How to safely use new cloud services  

  • Understand what cookies are and what is tracked when cookies are accepted

  • Be vigilant about social engineering scams 

  • Keep personal, financial information (and a potential refund) secure this tax season  

  • Recognize which apps are track users' locations

  • Learn about smart speakers and their privacy implications 

C4U is the university’s cybersecurity awareness platform, managed by your colleagues in the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation. The platform offers learning activities and actionable techniques to help users live a safer digital life. Open to all university faculty and staff, C4U can be accessed through any mobile device, laptop, and/or desktop computer. New activities are released quarterly, and each activity completed gets users one step closer to obtaining a variety of digital rewards.
