Upgrade Your Phone to Skype for Business to Improve Remote Work and Keep Your Campus Number

Ohio State’s pandemic response and switch to remote work and distance-enhanced learning was a huge feat for the university. Perhaps you weren’t able to migrate to Skype for Business (SfB) prior to the switch and are unable to access to your work phone.

Upgrade to SfB today and have full access to your work phone and voicemail, as well as the ability to conference though your computer. Don’t worry, your phone number will remain the same, but if you’ve not migrated to SfB yet, you only have until October 31 to act and still keep your campus number.  Your analog phone will no longer function after the migration, instructions on proper disposal will be provided when you schedule your migration time.

Please note that after October 31, lines that have not upgraded to SfB will be disconnected.

Use this link to schedule your SfB upgrade.

SfB works with most audio devices, including laptop speakers, microphones, Bluetooth headsets, ear buds, USB devices, etc.

Note: Wexner Medical Center employees are exempt/excluded entirely and are on a different phone service. Nothing will happen to any Medical Center phones. OSU Medical Center (WMC), College of Medicine, and Office of Health Sciences are on a separate Cisco Med Center phone system and are not in scope for Skype for Business at this time.

While SfB is very intuitive, training resources and quick tip information are available through the Administrative Resource Center should you need a little extra help.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the IT Service Desk by calling 614-688-4357 (HELP), emailing servicedesk@osu.edu or visiting Self Service.
