Why Are Instructors and Students Having Problems Sharing Files through BuckeyeBox?
UPDATE: 12/2020 - BuckeyeBox will be retiring in 2021. We recommending using Microsoft Teams and/or OneDrive for Business for collaboration and storage.
We’ve been noticing an increase in calls to the IT Service Desk citing problems sharing class documents through BuckeyeBox. In many cases, it’s as easy as a slight change to email addresses. We’re used to using name.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu when we email and share with students and you can use them to set up personal Box accounts. However, BuckeyeBox accounts, hosted through the university, use name.#@osu.edu email addresses.
In many cases, instructors and students are using BuckeyeMail addresses to share files instead of name.#@osu.edu email addresses. There’s a few ways to fix this problem.
- The simplest is to use name.#@osu.edu email addresses instead of BuckeyeMail.
- However, there are some benefits to using BuckeyeBox integrations within CarmenCanvas; this page explains the benefits and how to do it. When using CarmenCanvas integrations, you also must use name.#@osu.edu email addresses.
- If your students have never used BuckeyeBox before, please instruct them to visit my.osu.edu to enable their BuckeyeBox account and agree to the Responsible Use policy.
If you are still having difficulties after making these changes, please contact the IT Service Desk for additional help. The IT Service Desk offers 24-hour support, seven days a week, via email and phone.
