  • Join the Next Institutional Definitions Working Group: Student Domain (continued)

    The Data Governance team facilitates the development of working groups, composed of faculty and staff from across the university and medical center, for the purpose of creating standardized institutional definitions. This work is completed in batches of related terms. Check out the project website to see the current approved institutional definitions.

    The purpose of the definition sessions is to come to agreement about definition standards and not to change any university policies or make any new policy decisions. Presently there are no standard definitions for Race and Ethnicity across the university and Wexner Medical Center as they pertain to institutional data, which can lead to confusion.

    Attend the upcoming session using the registration information below.

    • Monday, July 24 at 3 p.m. - The terms to be discussed are under the Student Domain and include New First Year Student, New First Year Student Certificate, Transfer Rank 1 and 2, Transfer Rank 3 and 4, and Transfer Certificate.
    • Use the registration link to attend this drafting session.

  • Additional Institutional Definitions Working Group Session for Pronouns and Legal Sex

    As shared previously, the Data Governance team facilitates the development of working groups, composed of faculty and staff from across the university and medical center, for the purpose of creating standardized institutional definitions. This work is completed in batches of related terms. Most recently the working groups have finalized student-related definitions. Check out the project website to see those approved definitions. 

    After the success of the earlier June session, the Data Governance team is planning a second Pronouns and Legal Sex Institutional Definitions working group session for Wednesday, June 21.  

    The purpose of the definition sessions is to come to agreement about definition standards and not to change any university policies or make any new policy decisions. Presently there are no standard definitions for Pronouns and Legal Sex across the university and Wexner Medical Center as they pertain to institutional data, which can lead to confusion.

    The Data Governance team is now ready to kick off the working group for Pronouns and Legal Sex institutional definitions. 

    The purpose of the definition sessions is to come to agreement about definition standards and not to change any university policies or make any new policy decisions. Presently there are no standard definitions for Pronouns and Legal Sex across the university and Wexner Medical Center as they pertain to institutional data, which can lead to confusion.

  • Participate in Upcoming Institutional Data Drafting Sessions

    The OTDI Data Governance team is excited to announce the next four drafting sessions in our definitions initiative.

    • Friday, April 14, at 2 p.m. - The terms to be discussed include “undergraduate class size” and “new first year students.” Use the registration link to attend this drafting session.
    • Wednesday, April 26, at 1 p.m. - The terms to be discussed include “Ohio resident,” “non-Ohio domestic student,” and “international student.”  Use the registration link to attend this drafting session.
    • Wednesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. - The terms to be discussed include “first-year retention rate,” “four-year graduation rate,” and “six-year graduation rate.” Use the registration link to attend this drafting session.
    • Wednesday, May 31, at 2 p.m. - The terms to be discussed include “admissions,” “completed applications,” “admitted,” and “enrolled.” Use the registration link to attend this drafting session.
