Explore Leadership and AI Governance During Cybersecurity Month

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an opportunity to build skills, learn from experts and better understand the technologies shaping higher education. This month, Ohio State is partnering with the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) to offer virtual learning opportunities focused on two of the most important topics facing higher education today: artificial intelligence governance and cybersecurity leadership.

  • The CIS AI Journey: What Worked, What We Adjusted, What We're Still Figuring Out | Oct. 13, noon-1 p.m
Join Brian Calkin, chief technology and innovation officer at the Center for Internet Security, for a candid look at how CIS approached AI adoption by building governance before scaling use across the organization. Participants will learn how CIS addressed security, data and vendor risks, implemented enterprise AI tools, and adapted its approach along the way. Designed for organizations navigating AI adoption, the session will offer practical lessons, governance strategies and key questions to consider when balancing innovation with security across research, administrative and IT environments.
  • Leading Secure Adoption in Higher Education: Governance Strategies for an Evolving Threat Landscape | Oct. 21, 2-3 p.m.
AI is changing how we work, teach and learn. Join Command Artificial Intelligence Safely on Oct. 21 for a 90-minute webinar that will help faculty, staff and medical center employees use AI responsibly, protect sensitive data, choose approved tools and understand common risks. Completion can also be applied toward the university's annual cybersecurity awareness training requirement (IT16.1.1).
