  • Simple Syllabus Now Available

    Simple Syllabus, Ohio State’s new centralized platform for creating and publishing course syllabi, became available to faculty on April 23. The platform allows instructors to create syllabi using a university-wide‑ template and enables the university to meet the requirements of Senate Bill 1 (SB 1).
  • Important Update: Changes to Microsoft Copilot Chat 

    Beginning April 15, Microsoft began rolling out changes to where Copilot Chat (basic) appears across Microsoft apps. The basic version of Copilot, formerly called Copilot Chat, is paid for by the university and provided to all staff, instructors and students. One big change is that Copilot Chat will no longer appear on the toolbar ribbon directly inside the following Microsoft apps:

  • Ohio State Launches Siteimprove to Improve Web Accessibility

    Ohio State has rolled out Siteimprove as its new enterprise platform for improving web accessibility, search optimization, and overall website quality. Adopted through a partnership between the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) and the Office of Marketing, Siteimprove gives web teams across the university a single, easytouse tool to help ensure their sites are accessible, accurate, and effective for all users.

  • Plans to Move Students to a Single lastname.#@osu.edu Email Account

    Ohio State is working on moving to a single “lastname.#@osu.edu” email account for all students as part of an effort to simplify email use, reduce confusion and strengthen security across the university.

  • Microsoft “Ownerless Groups and Teams” Notifications 

    Microsoft sends emails when a team or group becomes “ownerless.” A team in Microsoft Teams or a Microsoft 365 group can become ownerless if the owner's account is deleted in Microsoft 365 – for example, if the group owner leaves the university. However, the messages sent over the past several days are incorrect and are in the process of being corrected.
  • Lighten Your Digital Load: Save Energy with Smaller Inboxes and Smarter Storage

    What if reducing your digital clutter could also reduce energy use? For Earth Month, Ohio State is challenging you to Lighten Your Digital Load. By trimming unnecessary emails and files, you can help reduce the energy required to store and manage data in always-on systems. Think of it like turning off the lights—but online.

    The more we store, the higher the energy demand. Keeping only what you need helps:

  • Updates to Microsoft Policy Emails Improve Access to Ohio State Help Resources

    On April 20, OTDI is making a change to the sender address of Microsoft-generated system messages that will ultimately make it easier for you to find the help resources you need. However, this change may affect any personal mailbox rules or workflows you’ve created that rely on specific Microsoft email addresses. 

  • OTDI Adds Three New MITS Core Partners

    The addition of three new Managed IT Services (MITS) Core partners will continue the momentum for a Stronger Together IT framework at The Ohio State University. MITS Core partners now include the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK), the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) and the College of Pharmacy.
  • Teams Updates Streamline Collaboration Across Ohio State

    Updates are coming to Microsoft Teams to create a more streamlined experience for Ohio State users as a multitenant organization (MTO). On April 17, university and medical center staff will see changes that simplify collaboration between their units.
