AI-assisted coding is quickly changing how software is written, reviewed, and secured. The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) is hosting a Risk Management Series webinar that will help university technical staff use these tools with confidence, discipline, and the right safeguards.
Designed for developers, application owners, and technical leaders, this virtual session will explain how AI coding assistants handle full agentic workflows, where they add value, and why human judgment remains essential for architecture, accountability, and secure delivery.
The webinar is on Thursday, Sept. 24, 11:00 a.m. In this 3-hour webinar, you will learn:
- Which university-approved AI tools and services are appropriate for coding-related work
- Practical techniques for prompting, reviewing plans, correcting mistakes, rolling back unsafe changes, refactoring code, and adding tests.
- Skills like practical techniques for prompting, utilizing agent tooling customizations (agent skills, MCP servers, custom agents) and moving into spec driven development; AI-DLC to enhance your speed to first deployment
- Application of identity and access management guardrails for AI coding agents where possible
- Stronger pre-production testing posture using SAST, SCA, secrets scanning, DAST
- How to access university-provided materials and environments to begin building
This webinar is intended for a technical audience. Completion of this course can be used to comply with the secure code training (ISPCR: IT7.10.1-2).
