Ohio State is launching its first-ever Phish Tournament for October’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Can you spot a phishing attack? If you see and report our phish, you earn points in Ohio State’s inaugural Phish Tournament. Top 100 finalists receive a $100 gift card.
Phishing emails remain one of the most common ways cybercriminals attempt to gain access to accounts, devices and sensitive information. The best defense is knowing how to recognize and report suspicious messages. The Phish Tournament offers a safe, hands-on way to build those skills.
Beginning Oct. 5, participants will receive a series of simulated phishing emails designed to mimic the kinds of messages that appear in inboxes every day. The challenge is simple: identify the phish and report it.
The top 100 participants with the highest scores will each receive a $100 gift card.
While the prizes add excitement, the real reward is gaining experience that can help protect personal data, university resources and the Ohio State community from real-world cyber threats. Whether you're already a phish-spotting expert or just want to sharpen your skills, the tournament offers a fun way to challenge yourself and strengthen your cybersecurity awareness.
Sign up by Oct. 2. Registration is open now for all Ohio State faculty, staff and student employees. Don't miss your chance to test your instincts, outsmart the phish and earn bragging rights along the way.
