OTDI Adds Three New MITS Core Partners

The addition of three new Managed IT Services (MITS) Core partners to continue the momentum for a Stronger Together IT framework at The Ohio State University. MITS Core partners now include the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge (ERIK), the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) and the College of Pharmacy.

The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) now has 23 MITS Core partners enjoying the benefits of scale OTDI provides. It all leads to consistent and secure IT services with predictable and transparent budgeting.

"Transitioning ERIK’s IT help desk support services to OTDI allows us to focus our energy where it matters most and what we are asked to steward - advancing Ohio State’s research mission,” said John M. Horack, vice president for Research for the Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge. “This move strengthens our ability to serve researchers, support innovation, and position our research community for long-term success into the future."

MITS Core offers IT services, computers and support that every employee needs to do their job, can assist university departments in saving money or running more efficiently.

"Expanding our partnership with OTDI will help us enhance support, improve cybersecurity, decrease costs, and allow the college to focus more fully on our academic, research and outreach mission.” said Erik Porfeli, EHE interim dean. “Perhaps most importantly, this partnership will grant our great IT colleagues the opportunity to continue in their roles and mainly in the service of our college.”

For OTDI’s vice president and chief information officer (CIO) Rob Lowden, MITS is a key tenant to his Stronger Together vision designed to create and support a unified IT identity for every Buckeye across the university.

Existing ERIK, EHE and Pharmacy IT staff will move to OTDI on July 1, 2026, to perform similar roles that match their skillset.
