Ally selected in LMS Accessibility Scanner RFP

Following an evaluation during summer 2025, the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) awarded the bid to Anthology for an accessibility scanning tool to be integrated with within the CarmenCanvas learning management system (LMS) and other Canvas instances.

A committee of Ohio State instructional designers, faculty, staff, and students recommending adoption of Anthology’s tool Ally, to enable and support instructors’ compliance with the Department of Justice’s new regulations that require all web content, including course content, to meet accessibility standards.

Once implemented, Ally will review content within Canvas and identify items that do not meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. The tool will also provide guidance to correct issues, generate alternate formats for instructional content, and provide reports for leadership and key stakeholders.

Adoption of an LMS accessibility scanner will enhance digital accessibility initiatives to improve accessibility to course content led by the ADA Digital Accessibility Center and OTDI’s Digital Accessibility Services.

More details about the implementation and availability of Ally within Canvas will be announced soon.
