  • Simple Syllabus Now Available

    Simple Syllabus, Ohio State’s new centralized platform for creating and publishing course syllabi, became available to faculty on April 23. The platform allows instructors to create syllabi using a university-wide‑ template and enables the university to meet the requirements of Senate Bill 1 (SB 1).
  • CarmenCanvas: Autumn 2026 Courses Now Available

    Course shells for the Autumn 2026 semester are now available!

    Instructors can find their academic course shells on their Carmen landing page.  The courses will also appear on the preview site for the new Carmen landing page.

     

  • ADA Coordinators Office offers guidance on digital accessibility in academic courses

    In early March, ADA Coordinator Scott Lissner presented to the University Senate Committee on Academic Technology (CAT) regarding the Title II regulations that we are currently working toward fulfilling. Here’s what he had to say.  His remarks have been edited to create a comprehensible set of questions and answers.

  • CarmenCanvas: Bulk Edit Functionality now Available in Manage Participants

    The option to bulk edit the roles and sections of users in Manage Participants is now available. 

    Users can find this option within their course rosters in Aegis's Manage Participants section. 

  • New CarmenCanvas Landing Page Coming Soon

    Carmen.osu.edu will soon have a new look and feel! Beginning on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 you can opt to use the new interface when you visit carmen.osu.edu to log in and view your courses. The updated site will become the default during the summer. 

  • Simple Syllabus Testing Begins in March

    Simple Syllabus is currently in the configuration and technical testing phase. Starting March 4, a small group of instructors began testing features in active spring courses, allowing for real-time student and faculty feedback.
  • OTDI Seeks Feedback on Mediasite

    This spring, the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) will be reaching out to collect feedback on Mediasite. If you have used Mediasite recently, you may receive that survey.
  • CarmenCanvas: Submission Status Icons in Gradebook

    A new feature has been added to Gradebook Settings in CarmenCanvas that will make it easier to identify which submissions are late, missing, excused, etc.
     
    When enabled, a symbol will display in gradebook columns where assignments have due dates to provide a visual indicator along with the color indicator.
  • Teaching and Learning Technology Updates for Spring 2026

    Learn about recent updates to teaching and learning technology and spaces.
  • Expanded Exam Monitoring: Honorlock App Now an Option for Instructors

    Learning Systems has enabled the Honorlock App as additional functionality for instructors already using Honorlock. If instructors use this option, students will be asked to download and install a separate app. The app runs in the background while students take their Honorlock-enabled exams using Chrome with the Honorlock Extension enabled.
