  • Canvas: New AI-based tools for Instructors

    Instructors have access to 2 new AI-based tools in their Carmen courses. 

    Once enabled as a feature option, the Discussion Summary option allows an instructor to request a summary of a particular discussion thread. Instructors may also ask specific questions about the thread's content. Currently, there is a limit of 25 summary generations per user per day. This feature is only visible to the instructor role.

  • Top Hat: Import Course Update

    Top Hat has added a streamlined process for creating a new course and copying existing content into it.  

    On the instructor dashboard, you will see a "doubled page" icon to the right of a course title. Click the icon to bring up a menu allowing you to create a new course into which your existing content will be copied. Courses with a lot of content can take up to 60 minutes to fully import.

    This feature is being rolled out beginning the week of November 25.

  • Spring 2025 Courses Available

    Courses for the Spring 2025 Semester are now available on CarmenCanvas.

  • PebblePad: Expanded Search by Tag Feature 

    PebblePad has now expanded the ability for users to search for tags that have been added to Assets to include when adding Assets to workbooks and creating hyperlinks in pages. This change increases the usefulness of tags within PebblePad and creates more support and flexibility on how users utilize Assets.

  • SpeedGrader: Rich Content Editor Features Available

    CarmenCanvas has just recieved an update which enables Rich Content Editor (RCE) features when commenting on assignment submissions, such as in SpeedGrader. Instructors can now edit drafts.
  • Respondus Lockdown iPad Functionality Update

    On Wednesday Aug. 21, Respondus made a change to iPad functionality for LockDown Browser enabled-exams. All exams using LockDown Browser are now automatically iPad compatible by default.

  • CarmenBooks Update

    CarmenBooks, the program that offers digital textbooks and access to publisher homework systems, is now powered by RedShelf. Students will be able to access all their current CarmenBooks titles by selecting the CarmenBooks icon from the global navigation in Canvas or from the CarmenBooks link within a course. Titles from previous semesters can be accessed with the Unizin Engage link within a course.

  • CarmenCanvas Update - Due Dates and Assign To Functions

    Starting this weekend, instructors will be able to assign modules, pages, and ungraded discussions to specific sections and students.

    This new functionality brings with it a redesign to the feature that instructors use to set due dates and assign differential access to activities and content throughout their courses.

  • Manage Participants in Aegis: Upload Limit Removed

    The upload limit on Manage Participants has been removed; users will now be able to enroll more than 10 participants at a time. 

  • Roster Export now available in Manage Participants

    The newest version of Manage Participants includes the ability to export roster data. It will export the portion of your roster currently displayed on your screen. If your roster is longer, switch to more users per page or move to a new page and export again. Instructors can add participants, remove and restore enrollments, and edit a participant's role.
