University policies and privacy statements explain how your personal information is collected, used and shared at the university.
University Policies
Several university policies address university standards, expectations and legal compliance around policy:
- Access for Individuals with Disabilities - to provide an inclusive and accessible university environment for all qualified individuals with disabilities.
- Affirmative Action & Equal Employment Opportunity - to create an environment where all people have an equal opportunity to apply for and participate fully in university employment and to promote awareness of the university’s affirmative action obligations.
- Information Security Incident Response Management - to require that information security events are reported and investigated to determine whether data breaches have occurred that trigger specific notification requirements.
- Institutional Data - to outline the appropriate use and protection of the university’s institutional data while preserving the open, information-sharing culture of its academic mission.
- Privacy and Release of Student Education Records - to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, which sets forth requirements designed to protect the privacy of student education records.
- Protected Health Information and HIPAA - to set forth the university’s mechanisms for complying with HIPAA laws and corresponding regulations, including as to research activities that use protected health information (PHI).
- Public Records - to describe the responsibilities of university employees and others who manage or maintain public records on the university’s behalf in complying with the Ohio Public Records Act (Ohio Revised Code (ORC) 149.43).
- Responsible Use of University and Network Resources - to provide expectations to support the responsible use of university computing resources.
- Youth Activities and Programs - to promote the safety and welfare of youth who participate in youth activities and programs and outline what is required of faculty, staff, students, student employees, graduate associates and volunteers who work in youth activities and programs.
