The Student Technology Loan Program provides actively enrolled Ohio State students with iPad and Microsoft Surface loaner devices. Loans can be short term or long term and must be renewed or returned at the end of each semester. This page contains information and resources related to loaned devices.

What devices are available for loan?

Microsoft Surface Kit

Who is eligible for a technology loan?

Any student enrolled in the current academic term who does not have outstanding technology fees on their account is eligible to request a loan.

Can I purchase my device?

No, the loaners are not available for purchase, but you can buy a comparable model through Tech Hub and receive exclusive student pricing.

Can I loan an individual device accessory (Apple Pencils, chargers, etc.)?

No. We are unable to support individual accessory loans at this time. If you have an active loan with us and need an accessory replacement, please bring your full kit to Enarson, BuckeyeBar or your regional IT office.  

Can I keep my device over the summer?

If you are enrolled in summer classes, you may renew your loan to keep your device over the summer. Any loans picked up or renewed during summer semester can be kept through the autumn semester.

Can I use my personal Apple ID on a loaned iPad?

Yes! Personal use of the devices is allowed, but must adhere to the university's responsible use policy. 

Is the Student Technology Loan Program connected to Digital Flagship?

While the Digital Flagship program has ended, the STLP staff can support any Digital Flagship devices that have not yet had ownership transferred. Any loaners given out through Digital Flagship have been transferred to the Student Technology Loan Program.
