The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) tool was created to support the university's privacy efforts to identify and minimize risks of projects, policies, systems, applications, programs, processes, products or services.

Activities
A Privacy Impact Assessment refers to a new project, policy, system, application, program, process, product, or service as an "Activity". An activity is any new project, policy, system, application, program, process, product or service in which data is collected or copied, regardless of whether the data is gathered by your department or received from another.
The following information for each activity must be identified:
- Requestor: The individual who requested an assessment.
- Privacy Pro: The privacy expert who supports this activity, or the Ohio State employee who should be contacted if there are questions about this activity.
- Activity Name: The name of the project, policy, system, application, program, process, product or service.
- Activity Description: A brief summary of the activity and its purpose.
- Contract Status: Indication of whether the activity has a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in process, a signed NDA, a contract in process or a signed contract.
