Last week, the Data and Analytics Team published a new dashboard to help data analysts better understand which datasets they have access to within the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE).
This new “RAE User Domain Access” dashboard displays a user’s name, login, and the list of domains and equivalent security groups to which they belong within the RAE. This membership governs the types of data available to them for querying.
Starting the week of April 5, 2022, we will be working behind the scenes to reload the core Journal Line dataset from Workday into the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE), starting with January 2021 data and finishing through current day. The reload process is expected to be complete no later than April 15, 2022. We will load the data incrementally in monthly buckets due to the size of the files. Thus, during this 10-day period, updates will appear as the load steps complete.
There will be no system outage or downtime due to this work. Users, reports, and dashboards should not be affected. Updated and complete data will flow into your existing queries without any changes on your part. Once the reload is complete, we will send out a follow up notification.
As shared in October , progress continues on the retirement of the legacy reporting systems tied to PeopleSoft HR and Finance, and will be complete at the end of calendar year 2021. In preparation for the shutdown, multiple activities have been completed or are ongoing to ensure that business and data analysts will have access to legacy data as needed. See the full post for more details and additional activity highlights.
Remaining activities for the university's Workday rollout include the retirement and shutdown of PeopleSoft data sources, BuckeyeOasis tools, and eReports and BuckIQ reporting services. Beginning November 1, access to these systems will be restricted to a small group of core users prior to system shutdown on December 31, 2021. Please review the full announcement for more detailed information on how to access common reports and historical data using new data tools.
With the completion of the financial conversion data loads to Workday, the team responsible for the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE) has also completed the loading of financial data to the new analytics data lake. As of Monday February 1, the RAE is synchronized with Workday via data loads that push the most recent transactions into the analytics database each night. Read the full article to learn more about how to access and use these data sources.
As the Workday implementation and go-live activities continue, the Data and Analytics team has been deploying v1.0 of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE). This new system has been running in beta since our soft launch in August 2019. With data now available from Workday, we are excited to share some information and stats about the new analytics environment.
The OCIO Data and Analytics group continues to refine and improve the tools and processes it provides to Ohio State for the purpose of analyzing enterprise data—the data generated from university administrative functions (finance and supply chain, student information, human resources, payroll, and grants).

The current soft rollout of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE) has allowed the Data and Analytics Team the opportunity to refine processes in an iterative way, presenting new features and capabilities on a frequent basis.
For the March 2020 iteration, the team is simplifying the security setup for data analysts that have direct access to the Redshift database and the datasets within. Redshift is the new Data Warehouse platform, supported by Amazing Web Services (AWS).
As the Data and Analytics team continues to march towards the full go-live launch of the RAE in July 2020, we are incrementally updating the Beta version of the new environment. This week, we are making a few updates to refine the data and processes that were a part of the Soft Launch in August...
