Ohio State’s Tableau User Group (TUG) helps bring together passionate users to learn, share and solve common data challenges. The May TUG will meet virtually via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. The May meeting is dedicated to Tableau and social media analytics.

Ohio State signed an agreement with Collibra this past December, in partnership and coordination with Wexner Medical Center, Advancement, and other key data intensive units, which helps lay the foundation of the university's overall data governance strategy. The current soft rollout of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE) has allowed the Data and Analytics Team the opportunity to refine processes in an iterative way, presenting new features and capabilities on a frequent basis.
For the March 2020 iteration, the team is simplifying the security setup for data analysts that have direct access to the Redshift database and the datasets within. Redshift is the new Data Warehouse platform, supported by Amazing Web Services (AWS).
Henry Zheng, Senior Associate Vice President for Strategic Analytics at Ohio State and Vaughn Hopkins, Executive Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Analytics, Delaware State University, are collaborating on a series of monthly data governance articles published on the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) website .
In December 2019, the Enterprise Project, in coordination with Wexner Medical Center, Advancement, and other key data intensive units, purchased Collibra. The Collibra application helps to support Ohio State's understanding of data assets and rules via capabilities within data cataloging and data governance.
Collibra will act as a business glossary, data catalog and data dictionary, replacing earlier data cataloging tools Data Cookbook and Wexner Medical Center’s IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog.
