The Workday implementation has been top of mind for many months now. With Workday now a reality, the Data and Analytics team is excited to announce rollouts and refinements to the current suite of data and reporting tools. As the Workday implementation and go-live activities continue, the Data and Analytics team has been deploying v1.0 of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE). This new system has been running in beta since our soft launch in August 2019. With data now available from Workday, we are excited to share some information and stats about the new analytics environment.
As we close out the 2020 calendar year and look ahead to the new world of Workday, the Data and Analytics Team is in the final few steps of preparation for the v1.0 launch of the Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE), as well as the new Ohio State Data Catalog (Collibra).

Our November 19, 2020 meeting is dedicated to Mapping With Tableau . Zac Lockwood from Facilities Operations and Development will showcase a FOD dashboard that overlays data on campus maps. Sarah Murphy will demonstrate how to use Mapbox maps with Tableau. We will also introduce the dataset for the TUG’s fifth Iron Viz competition, to be held on January 21, 2021.

With implementation of Workday in January 2021, the human resources, payroll, supply chain and financial transactions that flow from PeopleSoft will end. As PeopleSoft is taken offline, Workday will become the new system of record for most business transactions at Ohio State.
This shutdown means that the relevant HR and Finance System data that flows into the DWRPT database and the EDW database from PeopleSoft will stop and the data within these systems will become static and historical. The OCIO Data and Analytics team is working to migrate data from the legacy databases into the new Reporting and Analytics Environment (RAE) for use by reports and data analysts.

The October TUG will meet virtually from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. Following the success of the 2018 Tableau User Group meetings that covered Ryan Sleeper’s " Practical Tableau: 100 Tips, Tutorials and Strategies from a Tableau Zen Master ," the October meeting will focus on Ryan’s new book, Innovative Tableau: 100 More Tips, Tutorials and Strategies .

This event, put together by the Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI) with partnerships across campus, features a campus-wide series of workshops, lectures, challenges, and events focused on celebrating data analytics and decision science.

Laura Gast , Data Governance and Privacy Lead, recently presented a Data Stewardship kickoff to engage the Data Steward community and review the Ohio State Data Governance program.
