We are working to improve the university W-Fi experience over the next couple of years by moving to the eduroam network and device-based authentication, with a targeted retirement date of Summer 2024 for osuwireless.
Registered4OSU is a secure network designed for devices without browsers, or devices that do not support the necessary configuration for osuwireless—devices like a Nintendo Switch, Apple TV or Crestron panel.
Ohio State’s Wireless Expansion Project is making major strides, with 73% of total access points complete as of October 2019. Wireless services are now covering Ohio Stadium and reaching out to extension offices in counties across the state.
The Wireless Expansion project continues, with plans to add hundreds of new access points to high-priority classroom buildings in time for autumn semester. Work will also continue this summer at Ohio Stadium and the Oval in Columbus.
From Autumn 2018 to Summer 2020, wireless coverage will be expanding at Ohio State, including Columbus campus, regional campuses and extension locations. During this time, several new access points will be added to buildings as well as outdoor structures to expand overall square footage coverage.
