What’s New in Tech for Autumn 2026
Stay Connected Without Missing a Beat
Ohio State is updating the security used to verify our eduroam Wi-Fi network. For MITS-managed devices, no action is required—IT will re-onboard university devices for you. Requirements for other Ohio State provided devices may vary by department. To ensure your personal devices continue connecting without interruption, you will need to re-onboard your device now so it is properly configured.
Important Teaching and Learning Tool Updates for Autumn 2024

Retirement of osuwireless To Be Completed by Wednesday, July 24
It’s the final countdown! Remaining buildings that still have osuwireless in place will say goodbye beginning July 14 through July 24.
The remaining schedule for osuwireless retirement is:
Retirement of osuwireless Begins Sunday, May 5 at 10 p.m.
The time has come to say goodbye to osuwireless. On Sunday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 8, both at 10 p.m., osuwireless will be removed from select locations on Ohio State campuses in Columbus and Mansfield. The legacy Wi-Fi will be removed by building throughout the summer, targeting completion by August 2024. Visit wireless.osu.edu if you have not yet connected to eduroam.
Technology Updates for Spring 2024
The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) has been hard at work between autumn and spring semesters to update our tools and services. This round of continual improvement projects included added security measures for eLearning tools, improved synchronization of identity data, and a focus on accessibility awareness. You and your students should also be aware of upcoming changes to Wi-Fi at Ohio State and potential issues with email forwarding.
Improving Wi-Fi at Ohio State: Moving to eduroam and Device-Based Authentication
As OTDI continues to streamline and enhance IT services at the university, we are working to improve the university Wi-Fi experience over the next couple of years by moving to the eduroam network and device-based authentication. We will simultaneously phase out osuwireless, with a targeted retirement date of Summer 2024.
