Join us for the first Digital Learning Symposium, where we’ll celebrate the successes of the past academic year and look ahead to how we’re growing.

You’ll have opportunities to learn about the exemplary online teaching of three fellow educators and hear from university leaders about the future of professional, continuing, and online education at Ohio State. Enjoy networking with peers over light refreshments as you consider the best practices you can adopt in your own teaching.

Ann Deerhake (she/her)
Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice
Director - RN to BSN Program
College of Nursing

Bio

For the last decade, Dr. Ann Deerhake has concurrently taught undergraduate and graduate courses online for The Ohio State University College of Nursing and is presently the Director of the RN to BSN program. Dr. Deerhake has a passion for critical care nursing, wellness, evidence-based practice, and both online and bedside teaching. As a faculty member in the College of Nursing, she teaches leadership, failure to rescue, and bedside clinical to students at all levels. Her passion for teaching has led to course revision, curriculum redesign, and faculty development, as well as performing the role of Director of the RN to BSN program.

 

Mike Easterday (he/him)
Senior Lecturer

Bio

Prior to teaching at Ohio State, Easterday worked for thirteen years in the accounting industry. Concurrent with his industry career, he has served as an instructor of an array of accounting and audit courses for Ohio University and Columbus State Community College. As a Senior Lecturer in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, Easterday teaches courses on cost accounting, auditing principles and procedures, and accounting for decision making.

 

jt Eisenhauer Richardson (they/them)

Bio

jt Eisenhauer Richardson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Arts Administration, Education, and Policy. They are the Faculty Director of AAEP’s Online MA in Art Education program. Nationally, Dr. Richardson is chair of the Disability Studies in Art Education Interest Group of the National Art Education Association. Their current research explores digital and built spaces through neurodivergent sensory and social experiences.

Mike Bisesi (he/him)
Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Academic Administration
College of Public Health

Bio

Dr. Bisesi is currently the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Academic Administration for Public Health. Prior to his appointment at The Ohio State University in 2009, he served for 19 years as a scientist (including 12 years as tenured Professor of Public Health), Department Chairman, and Senior Associate Dean at the Medical University of Ohio and the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Health Science Campus. He was also the co-founder and Director of the tri-university Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health. Dr. Bisesi’s primary scientific expertise includes assessment of human exposure to and control of toxic and infectious agents; applied environmental toxicology and microbiology; and hazardous material/emergency incident recognition/response. He is actively engaged in international work via the Ohio State-Eastern Africa One Health projects and the Global One Health initiative (GOHi). Learn more.

 

Rob Griffiths (he/him)

Bio

Dr. Griffiths has been advancing the university’s online education initiative since 2013. As Chief Digital Learning Officer, he is responsible for a full spectrum of strategy and support at the intersection of education and technology at Ohio State. Beyond directing online education efforts for The Ohio State University, he oversees state authorization and student services for those entering the university through non-degree, Program 60, or contractual outreach paths. Additionally Griffiths leads teams that support student literacy with digital tools and online learning and provide professional learning for Ohio State instructors. Leveraging data informed decision-making, advocating for our learners, and knowing community and connection matters in all we do, his team is driven to make positive change and citizen leaders. James Orr (he/him)
Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management
Office of Academic Affairs

Bio

Dr. Orr serves as Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management at The Ohio State University. In this role, he provides leadership that strengthens the university’s position to attract and support students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and works closely with stakeholders on all campuses to ensure success in student recruitment, enrollment, and transition. Prior to joining Ohio State, Dr. Orr served as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Strategic Enrollment for the University of Memphis. He is a leading academic, enrollment and student success strategist with expertise in bringing innovative technologies, data analytics and institutional collaborations to the entire enrollment cycle. Andrea Pfeifle (she/her)
Associate Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education
Wexner Medical Center

Bio

Dr. Pfeifle became the first Associate Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Practice and Education (IPE) for Ohio State’s seven health sciences colleges and the Wexner Medical Center in July 2020. In this role, she works with each health science college to implement a new curriculum for IPE, and creates new educational models of practice across the Wexner Medical Center to best prepare students for the future of team-based care. Prior to joining Ohio State, Pfeifle served as Executive Director of Indiana University’s Interprofessional Practice and Education Center. She has had an extensive career in education, working to advance interprofessional education and teaching collaborative practice models across medical and health science education programs for more than 25 years. Prior to his current role, he held positions as an instructional designer in the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation and in the Instructional Design and Development Department at University of Phoenix.
