Project Update

The project continued to move forward in the first few weeks of March before Ohio State made official COVID-19 response announcements. In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation and changes to university processes, IT onboarding will be paused until further notice. Communications have been sent to leaders. This is a complex problem; while health is the primary focus, there are related topics such as technology and OCIO is working to enable employees to work remotely. Onboardings scheduled for March and April will be rescheduled with those areas once we return to campus. Planning will continue as much as possible during this time.

CFAES IT Team Progress
The CFAES IT team is working on a variety of projects including research, web and application support. Below are some highlights from March.
CFAES IT Team Progress
- Agricultural Operations – Set up new server with OCIO to support new Feed Mill inventory system.
- ANS - Helped set up and install software in a new virtual server for research. Evaluating Cow Manager for information risk. Assisted faculty migrating from Prezi to PowerPoint.
- ATI – Turfgrass pesticide web application developed internally by the web team adapted for use by ATI rather than purchasing a third-party service. Installed Fusion ZoomText. Changes to how landing pages handle images.
- BTES – Helped securely migrate Insightly from Marion Campus.
- EJI - New Editorial Team Position portal.
- FABE - Applied software updates to unique Ubuntu Linux laptop used for farm implement research.
- Finance – Performing risk assessment for Xero to manage check records and evaluating other options.
- FST - Helped with the migration of 10 sensory computers. Helped set up and install software in a new virtual server for research. Installed GraphPad. Development site for Consumer Sensory Testing to rework website.
- Extension – Assisted Warren County to recover from a QuickBooks password problem. Completed testing of QuickBooks Enterprise system. Beginning risk assessment for FairEntry. Providing guidance on information risk and digital accessibility aspects of new mobile app for youth education about horses. Assisted Master Gardener Volunteers to get access to Zoom to facilitate remote group meetings. Helping Dairypalooza program migrate to a supported web platform and registration process. Continuing to support exploration of CRM platform. Worked with Extension Publications on support for their legacy website, and management of aging fact sheets.
- HCS – Continuing to work with vendor to complete risk assessment for RedBud SaaS to assist with monitoring of greenhouse systems. Facilitating remote management of Argus greenhouse management systems.
- Knowledge Exchange – Consulted on launch of COVID-19 Hub including assisting with digital accessibility. Planning web integration for KX site. Helped identify Microsoft Teams as a supported platform for COVID-19 Discussion Forum.
- MarComm – Assisting with implementation of JIRA to track web development projects.
- MCIC – Provide a solution for Bioconda not installing packages. Installed new version of R.
- SENR – Assisting with information risk assessment of Prolific survey system.
- South Centers – Supporting critical manufacturing businesses.
- General Research Support – In collaboration with OCIO, network configurations were modified to allow remote access to research servers.
- General Web Support – Development of new advisory system adding a customizable block to every site. Facilitating event cancellation communications and crisis communication plan updates across the college. New development web sites for DRFEWS, Faculty and Staff Affairs, and Wooster Campus Life. Migration of Approximately 140 Websites to OSU Webhosting. Improvements to our site management system to better work with OSU Hosting. Fixes for the shared calendar system to better deal with cancellations and deletions.
