NOTE: An enterprise security risk assessment may be required for your use case. Your Local IT lead and Security Coordinator have been notified. You are responsible to work closely with these critical resources concerning your Ohio State AWS account. They can assist you with any department/college specific requirements, restrictions, and support; as well as request any security risk assessments required before you upload university data into AWS.

Accessing Your Account

To access your Ohio State AWS account log into the AWS Console. Logging into your account requires two sets of credentials:

Please note: Remember to bookmark the URL address above for quick access to the Ohio State AWS console. Your log in credentials will not work on aws.amazon.com.

Once you are logged in, you have full administrative access to manage and configure AWS services within your account.

Getting Started

The first step in using your account is to set up the Security Alternate Contact for your account. Work with your department or college Security Coordinator to set the correct value for this requirement. A Security Alternate Contact is the person or group email that should receive security alerts identified and sent from AWS.

  • Log into your Ohio State AWS account using the above directions.
  • Locate your log in identity in the upper right hand corner.
  • Click the drop down button and select My Account.
  • On the Account Settings page scroll down to Alternate Contacts.
  • Click Edit on the far right.
  • Fill in the details provided by your department or college Security team or Security Coordinator.
  • Click Update

Getting Support From Ohio State Resources

  • If you are new to AWS, please schedule an onboarding meeting to gain full access to AWS services and have a Q&A
  • If you are unable to log in to your Ohio State AWS account, contact the IT Service Desk for assistance at 614-688-4357.
  • Your college or department IT lead and/or Security Coordinator may request read only access to your account at any time in an effort to support your successful use of AWS. 

Getting Support From Amazon Web Services Team

Your account is now part of AWS Enterprise Support. Enterprise Support resources should be used for any AWS-specific issues that you encounter, such as account (non-log in), billing, service limit increases, and technical issues. To use Enterprise Support, open a case from within your Ohio State AWS account. Please do not use the “Business Critical-System Down” option when opening cases. This option is reserved for university-wide outages only. Visit AWS Enterprise Support for more information about enterprise support and AWS response and resolution times to address issues.

  • Two AWS resources are assigned to Ohio State: Solutions Architect (SA)and Technical Account Manager (TAM). These resources can meet with you and/or your team to talk thru uses cases, perform well-architected reviews, help estimate costs, and recommendations on security, performance, and cost efficiencies. Schedule a consultation through the Research Commons or Online AWS Office Hours
