Project Update

The project team continues to make progress, moving units to OCIO services on the Statewide campus and working with departments in Columbus and Wooster to schedule their moves. Visit the CFAES IT Transformation webpage for regular project updates.

Columbus Campus

  • OSUnet and Wi-Fi implementation complete in 25 buildings (89% of in scope buildings completed)
  • Moving to OCIO services next: FABE, Entomology, SENR, OSUE Admin
  • 11 of 21 departments moved to OCIO services

Wooster Campus

  • Wi-Fi implementation complete in 45 buildings (67% of in scope buildings completed)
  • OSUnet complete in 47 buildings (70% of in scope buildings completed)
  • Moving to OCIO services next: FABE, Plant Pathology, MCIC, Entomology
  • 21 of 35 departments moved to OCIO services

State-wide Campus

  • OSUnet and Wi-Fi implementation complete in 53 locations (46% of in scope buildings completed)
  • Moved to OCIO Services in July: Brown, Lucas, Wood
  • Moving to OCIO services next: Greene, Morgan, Fayette, Ashtabula, Pickaway, Wayne
  • Planning kicked off with the following counties: Knox, Tuscarawas, Holmes, Washington, Guernsey, Coshocton
  • Next counties to kick off: Medina, Ashland, Gallia, Pickaway, Butler, Warren
  • 23 of 88 counties moved to OCIO services

Onboarding Survey Results

Members of units that moved to OCIO services were given the opportunity to provide feedback about their experience.

 

Thinking about the overall process of receiving new IT services, how would you rate your experience?

What did you think about the communications you received throughout the onboarding process?

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with your onboarding experience?

CFAES IT Team Progress

The CFAES IT team is working on a variety of projects including research and application support. Below are some of the highlights from July.

Research Support

  • Animal Sciences: Set up cow management software and dairy software to send data to each other
  • Information Technology Services: Developed a tool to assist in computer inventory gathering
  • Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center: Installed software for bioinformatics pipeline
  • Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center: Gather inventory information on research computers
  • Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center: Fixed an issue where a user was unable to connect to a shared drive on the bioinformatics server
  • Plant Pathology: Set up a virtual machine to run older software
  • Plant Pathology: Developed a network setup to connect a weather station receiver to the internet
  • Plant Pathology: Gather inventory information on research computers
  • Service Testing and Research Laboratory: Gather inventory information on research computers

Application Support

  • AEDE: With OCIO, got Knowledge Exchange project team set up with supported development environment in AWS
  • ATI Equine Center: Procured equipment, developed procedure, and trained personnel on how to export video from their 8-camera system
  • ATI Equine Center: Migrated to new equine management software
  • eTeam: Prepared iPads for use in workshop at CFAES Teaching & Learning Symposium
  • Extension: With OSU Technology and Commercialization Office, published three mobile apps
  • Renovations Planning: Installed camera on roof of Fisher to collect images for timelapse video documenting construction of Wooster Campus Science Building
  • Wooster Campus Facilities Services: Completed risk assessment for new preventive maintenance and work order system allowing purchase and implementation to move forward
