Online courses (also called eLearning) are training modules that are created using authoring tools and taken online by learners. Online courses are often interactive and may contain audio or video components.
Online courses must be exported to the proper format, usually SCORM, that BuckeyeLearn can use.
Online courses may be produced by your area or purchased from a third-party vendor.
Create an online course
After you have exported your course to SCORM and reviewed its accessibility, it’s time to share the SCORM file with BuckeyeLearn Support.
Submit the BuckeyeLearn SCORM File Upload Request Form.
- Search for and launch the online course in pilot.
- Use the testing job aid to test the online course in pilot.
- Make any functionality changes in your authoring tool.
- If needed, share an updated SCORM file with BuckeyeLearn Support by resubmitting the BuckeyeLearn SCORM File Upload Request Form. Repeat steps 1-3.
- Once you have confirmed that the online course is ready to be uploaded into the live environment, email buckeyelearnsupport@osu.edu to notify the BuckeyeLearn Support team. BuckeyeLearn Support will load the SCORM file into live.
- Update the learning object on the Course Console.
Modify an online course
If you need to make changes to an online course after it is active, you can ask BuckeyeLearn Support to update it.
- Email buckeyelearnsupoprt@osu.edu. Identify the online course title and describe the changes that are needed. The BuckeyeLearn Support team will determine whether the online course needs to be modified or reversioned.
If the online course needs to be reversioned, submit the BuckeyeLearn SCORM File Upload Request Form.
- Search for and launch the online course in pilot.
- Use the testing job aid to test the online course.
- Make any functionality changes in your authoring tool.
- If needed, share an updated SCORM file with BuckeyeLearn Support, and repeat steps 2-4.
- Once you have confirmed that the online course is ready to be uploaded into the live environment, email buckeyelearnsupport@osu.edu to notify the BuckeyeLearn Support team. BuckeyeLearn Support will load the SCORM file into live.
- Update the learning object on the Course Console, if needed.
