  • BuckID Number Reclassified as S4 Institutional Data

    The 16-digit number found on BuckID cards has been reclassified from S3 to S4 institutional data. This means that it is now considered restricted data and requires stricter safeguards due to its various applications, including functionality as a debit card number, potentially increasing the risk of identity theft and financial loss if compromised.

    Note that this change does not apply to the staff or student eight or nine-digit ID number, which is also printed on BuckID cards. This number remains at an S2 classification level.

  • "Learner" Institutional Definition Being Finalized

    Ohio State’s Data Governance team launched a new initiative in 2022 to standardize institutional definitions, partnering with colleagues across the university.

    Our latest definition for "Learner" is ready for community review. The group is open to hearing from all faculty and staff from the university and Wexner Medical Center during the review period. Those interested in reviewing these definitions are asked to fill out this Qualtrics survey by Wednesday, May 8.

    The Data Governance team is ready to convene the working group for the next institutional definition session.   • Join the Next Two Institutional Definitions Working Groups: University Class Ranking and Race and Ethnicity

    The Data Governance team is ready to convene the working groups for the next two institutional definitions sessions. The session for University Class Ranking System (Rank 1, Rank 2, Rank 3, Rank 4) will occur on Friday, November 17. The session for Race and Ethnicity will occur on Tuesday, November 28.
