Tech Foundations
Safeguard Your Data
This summer the city of Columbus experienced a significant data breach that may have exposed the data of countless Ohio residents. While the breach itself may be beyond your control, your response to it is not. You can take proactive measures to protect data from ransomware or other cyberattacks and to safeguard your information from identity theft. Learn how to minimize data loss by learning to recognize phishing and adhering to best practices for data retention and backup.
Welcome to eduroam
Over the summer, we finished the retirement of osuwireless so users can connect to eduroam at all university locations. Users now benefit from not needing to update passwords to maintain wireless connections. By visiting wireless.osu.edu and selecting "Connect to eduroam," devices stay connected for five years. Also eduroam's secure connection is available in over 100 countries worldwide.
Microsoft Changes
Ohio State is modifying email and storage services in response to changes in Microsoft's pricing model and to security changes made by third party email providers. While impacts will differ by role, in general, email account forwarding will be discontinued at year end, and storage limits will be put in place in June. Visit the project page to find out more about how you will be impacted by changes to email and storage services.
