Generative AI Service

Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new things—like text, images, music, or even code—based on what it has learned from existing examples. You give it a prompt, and it responds by generating something original that fits your request.

Think of it like a digital artist or writer: instead of just recognizing a picture of a cat, it can create a brand-new image of a cat that’s never existed before—because it understands patterns from the many cat images it has seen.

The OTDI Cloud Services Group uses our cloud providers GCP (Google Cloud Platform), AWS (Amazon Web Service), and Azure, along with a partnership with the OSC (Ohio Supercomputer Center) to provide Ohio State researchers and professors inexpensive token-based access to LLMs (Large Language Models) through our managed, open-source LiteLLM proxy instance.

LiteLLM Model availability and pricing can be found in the model hub table.

If your AI tool has a custom OpenAI endpoint, this service will work for you. Some examples would be:

  • Claude Code Command Line Interface
  • OpenAI Codex Command Line Interface
  • Gemini Command Line Interface
  • Colab: see an example in Colab (You will need to log in to see the file.)
