Tableau Test Environment Access

This job aid outlines how to request access and log in to Ohio State’s Tableau Test environment—a secure, scaled-down space for testing upgrades, troubleshooting issues, exploring new features, and validating scripts.

Requesting Access

Access to the university’s Tableau Test environment is limited to individuals supporting upgrades, troubleshooting issues, testing new features, or validating scripts. To request access, please email data-visualization@osu.edu with a brief explanation of your intended use.

Logging in to Tableau Test

Once access to Tableau Test has been granted, follow the steps below:

    1. Access to Tableau Test requires a connection to an approved Ohio State VPN. Supported VPNs include:
      1. OSULAN (on-campus VPN)

      3. CNET VPN (Office of Advancement)
      4. Student Life VPN
  2. Log in to Tableau Test
    1. Open a web browser and go to: https://tableautest.service.osu.edu. Log in using your name.# credentials.
  3. Environment Overview
    1. Upon logging in, you will see a scaled-down version of the production environment. Tableau Test is designed to serve as a sandbox for safe experimentation with scripts, configurations, and platform upgrades.
  4. Requesting Support
    1. Since this is a limited environment, some features such as scheduled tasks, specific drivers, or firewall access may not be available by default. If you require assistance, please email data-visualization@osu.edu with your request.
