Tableau Server Change Control

Information contained in public-facing and Enterprise work is used for decision making purposes by many stakeholders in the Buckeye community. Thus, it is our collective responsibility to ensure the appropriate audit controls are in place.

Change management is a discipline that ensures standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes to the information technology control infrastructure to minimize the number and impact of any related incidents upon a service. Changes to the environment should be authorized, documented, and tested.

With this goal in mind, change control is required for all dashboards and data sources that are public facing or in the Enterprise project.

Change Control process

  1. Submit a ticket in ServiceNow.
  2. Select Adding or Updating a Public or Enterprise dashboard or data source.
  3. Complete the information in the form, including urgency and scope of impact.
  4. The user’s manager will be prompted to sign off before the request is routed to the Data Visualization team.
  5. At this point, the Data Visualization team will work with the departments submitting the request(s) to publish updated or new information.
