- Log in to Tableau Server.
- Go to tableau.osu.edu.
- Click Secure Data.
- Review the Terms of Service
- Click Proceed to Reports to accept the Terms of Service.
- Log in using BuckeyePass.
- Click Explore in the navigation menu
- All the groups of reports that you have access to are available
- This includes reports specific to your college, unit, or department in addition to university-wide, or Enterprise, reports
About the Tableau Server navigation menu
- Home: Log in landing page. Provides quick access to your favorites and most recently used reports
- Explore: All the groups of reports, or projects, that you have access to use
- Favorites: Projects, folders, reports and datasets you have marked as a favorite by selecting the associated star
- Recents: Reports and datasets most recently used
- Recommendations: Reports and datasets you may find useful based on what you usually use.
- External Assets: Data stored locally that has been used in ad hoc reports and analytics. Most often used by data analysts
- Click the appropriate project and navigate to the report or dashboard you wish to run.
- Select and apply filters.
- Review results.
You can choose to review results online in Tableau Server or use results in Excel. Expand the sections below for more information about each option.
Review results online
In addition to being able to scroll through output to view information – note that both horizontal and vertical scroll bars may be available – Tableau Server reports are interactive. Not all interactive options are available in every report.
- Hover over column headings for additional sort options
- Click a cell in the output to see available focus and drill down options including:
- Click Keep Only to focus only on that value
- Click Exclude Only to remove that value from the results
- Click + to drill down to more information about that value
- Click Undo (or Redo) in the report header to return to the previous view
- Click Revert in the report header to remove the current filter and go back to the default view of the report
Use results in Excel
Use Excel to perform additional analysis or to download results.
