Cross Listed and Equivalent Courses

Overview

The most common of these relationships recognized by many institutions is the cross-list, which is a single course offered under two or more departments. In most cases, the course is identical for all students – same instructor, same time, and same location. The main difference is the course is identified by one subject code for some students (for example, AFAMAST 2080) who might be majors in that discipline and a different subject code (such as HISTORY 1151) for students who might be taking the course as an elective.

Equivalent courses are versions of the same course with a different suffix or decimalization for which students cannot receive duplicate credit. Ex.: 1100, 1100H, 1100E, 1100.01, 1100.02
 

Cross listing new courses

When creating a new proposal that needs to be cross-listed with another new course, click the plus button and select the subject code and number fields of the course you would like to cross-list with.

Removing a cross list

When breaking a cross-list, click the Trash Can icon on the course that needs to be removed.

Equivalent Courses

When creating a new proposal that has an equivalent course, click the plus button and select the subject code and number fields of the course(s) that is/are equivalent.

Removing an Equivalent Course

When removing an equivalent course, click the Trash Can icon on the course that needs to be removed.
