Digital Accessibility Policy
Digital Accessibility training is required yearly to comply with the Digital Accessibility policy and a voluntary agreement with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights to ensure our digital information and services are accessible.
This course contains a test-out option. You must successfully pass the assessment to test out and complete the course.

The Ohio State University's Family Education Rights and Privacy Act Training
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) sets forth requirements designed to protect the privacy of student education records. Employees or units that maintain any student-identifiable records are required to take the The Ohio State University's Family Education Rights and Privacy Act Training.
The Ohio State University's Family Education Rights and Privacy Act Training is employment role based and the training is not centrally assigned. Anyone with an active name.# can log in to BuckeyeLearn to search for and request the training as needed.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) training is required annually based on the fiscal year for any faculty or staff member who has access to student financial and/or financial aid data because of their special obligation to protect sensitive personal information, such as student financial account detail. Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) is available between July 1 and June 30.
Learners must complete both the course and the assessment with 100% to complete the course. To review your assessment, including incorrect answers, review the Review Completed Assessment job aid.
This course is assigned centrally in partnership by the Bursars Office, Financial Training and BuckeyeLearn Support to those who require it on an annual basis. Contact oub-training@osu.edu if you have questions about your assignment to this course. The course may also be assigned or taken outside of the assignment window as needed.

HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance
HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance training is the university’s mechanisms for complying with HIPAA laws and corresponding regulations, including as to research activities that use protected health information (PHI). This course also includes training on the Institutional Data Policy, which is yearly required training for those with access to restricted (S4) data.
Wexner Medical Center employees are assigned one of two available trainings for HIPAA.
- New employees: Upon hire, new employees who started employment after July 1 are dynamically assigned HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance. They have 60 days to complete the training once the training is assigned to their transcript.
- Annual: HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance Annual is dynamically assigned to individuals who have 1) previously completed HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance upon hire and 2) have a Medical Center Start Date prior to July 1.
University employees who do not fall under the Medical Center umbrella and who have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and have access to restricted (S4) data must take HIPAA and Institutional Data Compliance on an annual basis. The training assignment is unit based.
This training is owned by the Wexner Medical Center. Any users experiencing an issue with the training should contact the Medical Center Help Desk at 614-293-4357.
Institutional Data Policy
Institutional Data policy (IDP) training is required yearly for those with access to restricted (S4) data. Individual areas may require others to take this training. For more information, review the Institutional Data Policy Page.
This course contains a test-out option. You must successfully pass the assessment (answer 13 out of 15 questions correctly) and complete the Institutional Data Usage and Confidentiality Agreement both to test out and complete the course.
Beginning in 2022, this course will be centrally assigned to those who require it. Training is assigned on February 1 and due on April 29. Questions about assignments should be addressed to your supervisor, your area’s security coordinator, or IDP-Support@osu.edu. New hires may take the course at any time as needed.

This course is equivalent to the Wexner Medical Center’s HIPAA course. If you take the HIPAA course, you are marked Completed (equivalent) for this training.
Payment Card Compliance
Payment Card Compliance training is required annually based on the fiscal year for anyone that handles or processes payment cards on behalf of the university or the medical center or those that have a role that would impact the security of cardholder data.
Learners must complete both the course and the assessment with 100% to complete the course. To review your assessment, including incorrect answers, review the Review Completed Assessment job aid.
This course is assigned annually from the College/VP Unit. Questions about assignments should be addressed to your Merchant Manager. The course may also be assigned or taken outside of the assignment window as needed.

STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct
STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct is required yearly for all students and employees, including the Wexner Medical Center. STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct replaces the previous yearly Report = Support! compliance training for employees and the previous yearly U Got This! compliance training for students.
The training window is early fall to mid-spring. New hires are automatically assigned the training within 3 days of their employment start date. Questions about the assignment can be addressed by emailing civilrightseducation@osu.edu.

Reporting Waste, Fraud, and Abuse
Reporting Fraud, Waste, and Abuse is required for all Ohio State employees. For more information, review the Financial Training page.
Beginning in 2024, this course will be assigned centrally to all employees who require it. Training was assigned in late September 2024 to current employees and is due on October 29, 2024. New employees will be automatically assigned the training within 1-2 business days from their start date and have 30 days to complete it. New employees will receive an automated email notifying them that they have been assigned this course. Questions about assignments should be addressed to your supervisor, your area’s BuckeyeLearn administrator, or to financialtraining@osu.edu.
To complete the course, you must watch the video and complete the acknowledgement.
