Purpose of Course

STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct is required yearly for faculty, staff, and student employees as prevention education that addresses sexual misconduct, provides tools to challenge and report harmful behavior, and information on how to support someone who has experienced sexual misconduct. The training fulfills a mandatory requirement and remain up-to-date on reporting obligations and resources.  STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct replaces the previous yearly Report = Support! compliance training for employees and the previous yearly U Got This! compliance training for students.

STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct is centrally assigned to all faculty, staff and student employees. For students, the training window begins in early summer and ends in mid-spring of the following year. For employees, the training window begins in late fall and ends in mid-spring of the following year. The assignment runs daily and assigns to new employees within 3 days of their start date during the assignment window (fall to mid-spring).

Equivalencies and Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this training. 

An accessible version of STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct is in the description of the training in BuckeyeLearn. Users can also search for the alternative version in BuckeyeLearn by entering “Accessible Version of STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct” in the search terms. Once the alternative version is marked complete, it will also automatically compete the non-accessible version on their transcript as well. 

Common Questions/Issues

The training is not on my transcript but I was told to take it. 

The assignment criteria for STEP UP Against Sexual Misconduct are pre-determined. Therefore, if you do not see the training on your transcript, you fall outside of the criteria and are not required to take the training. Example of excluded populations are: Emeritus faculty, auxiliary law enforcement/EMS/Fire Prevention Officers and certain job codes within Athletics and Business Advancement. 

I’m a new employee and did not get assigned the training. 

New employees that start outside of the training window will not have the training assigned. The training window starts in the fall and ends in mid-spring. 

The course won’t mark complete on transcript even though I got to the end of the training. 

This is a Wi-Fi connection issue. If your Wi-Fi drops during the training, the connection between the training and BuckeyeLearn is lost, resulting in the completion not getting communicated. Should this happen, contact the IT Service Desk. 

I’m stuck on a page and cannot move. 

Sometimes, different versions of browsers cause issues with some of the functionality built into the training resulting in a screen freeze. Should this happen, contact the IT Service Desk. 

I’m not sure why I was assigned this training.
