Purpose of Course
Institutional Data policy (IDP) training is required yearly for those with access to restricted (S4) data. Individual areas may require others to take this training. Beginning in 2022, IDP training must be completed between February 1 and April 29. New hires may take the course at any time as needed.
An institutional data awareness activity is required for those who do not have access to restricted (S4) data and who have not completed IDP training. For more information about this, review go.osu.edu/idp-info
Assignments
Beginning in 2022, this course will be centrally assigned to those who require it. Training is assigned on February 1 and due on April 29.
Questions about assignments should be addressed to the learner’s supervisor, your area’s security coordinator, or IDP-Support@osu.edu.
The course may also be assigned or taken outside of the assignment window as needed.
Equivalencies and Prerequisites
This course is equivalent to the Wexner Medical Center’s HIPAA course. If a learner takes the HIPAA course, they are marked Completed (equivalent) for this training.
The equivalency is not bi-lateral. Learners are not marked complete for HIPAA if they complete this training.
This course is also equivalent to an accessible version of the course that can be found by searching in BuckeyeLearn.
Common Questions/Issues
Why was I assigned this/why do I have to take it?
See above. Have learner contact their supervisor, your area’s security coordinator, or Enterprise Security at IDP-Support@osu.edu.
How can I test out?
All learners may test out of the course. They must successfully pass the assessment (answer 13 out of 15 questions correctly) and complete the Institutional Data Usage and Confidentiality Agreement to test out. Learners cannot access the Institutional Data Usage and Confidentiality Agreement until they have passed the assessment. If they cannot pass the assessment, they may try again, or review the course content and then try again.
The course won’t mark complete on transcript.
Learners must complete both the assessment and agreement to complete the course. Advise learners to re-take the assessment and agreement if they cannot get the course to complete. Also advise them to close the window if they pause so progress is reported to BuckeyeLearn. If this does not solve the problem, have them contact or IT-Training@osu.edu.
