All training in BuckeyeLearn is categorized into groups based on content by subject. Subjects can be used to search for and identify training based on your interests. Training can have multiple subjects attached.
Application & Software
Training on or about software and web-based applications used across the university and the Wexner Medical Center.
Child subjects
- BuckeyeLearn: Training and learning activities that involve use of the BuckeyeLearn system.
- Medical Center Applications: Training specific to applications used across the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC).
- Grandchild subject: IHIS (Integrated Health Information Systems): Training specific to the use of OSUWMC’s IHIS.
Compliance
Training that addresses Ohio State’s annual top compliance risk areas, is explicitly required by law, is an industry standard, or is required by university policy. This subject also includes OUCI-sponsored training. Any unit who would like to use the Compliance subject must first receive approval through the Office of Compliance.
Continuing Education
Training and learning activities that are primarily used to earn professional education units. This also includes training and learning activities to gain or maintain certification(s) and accreditation(s).

Training and learning experiences intended for growth or improvement in the workspace or overall; training offers resources, tools, or experiences that advance professional learning through improved knowledge, competence, and skill.

Health and Wellness
Training and learning experiences that increase awareness of and provide resources for making choices toward healthy living and balanced lifestyles; content within this subject may include one or more dimensions of wellness: mental, physical, emotional, social, financial, spiritual, etc.

Training related to human resource processes, policies and systems across the university and the Wexner Medical Center.

Job Skills Training and Education
Training and learning activities that are primarily used to develop specific skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to be successful in a role or position.

New Hire
Training and learning activities that are essential to the successful orientation and onboarding of a new employee across the university and the Wexner Medical Center.
Policies
Training and learning activities offered to provide an explanation of what a University Policy requires, and how those to whom it applies can meet the stated expectations.
Research
Training and learning activities intended for those in research based positions to support understanding of specific compliance and administrative issues that relate to these roles. This also includes training to enhance safety and on the conduct standards of basic and applied research.
Research Administration
Training and learning activities that provide education, tools, and resources for understanding and navigating the administrative processes for supporting the research enterprise. This also applies to training on how to maintain the university's compliance with regulations and policies governing the conduct of research.
Safety
Training designed to maintain a safe and secure environment, including topics such as chemical security, environmental affairs, occupational health and safety, radiation safety, research and biosafety, and safe use of equipment and utility vehicles.

Occupational Health and Safety: Training related to concerns the safety, health, and welfare of people at work.
System Testing
This subject is for testing purposes only. It is not applied to any real trainings.
Workday
Training and learning activities specifically created to support the implementation of the Enterprise Project. This also applies to training for how to use the Workday systems across the university and Wexner Medical Center.
