Boost Your Skills: Classroom Services Jobs Help Jumpstart Your Career

Are you looking for a job that can give you skills in addition to a paycheck? Classroom Services has some great options for you. Not only can you boost your technology skills, but these student positions also have flexible hours to fit your schedule.
Classroom Services supports the technological and maintenance needs of classrooms across the Columbus campus. We not only provide customer service in classrooms and Digital Unions but also perform regular maintenance to keep classroom technology in top condition—playing a vital role in ensuring a seamless learning environment.
“Classroom Services is one of the most important roles at Ohio state because technology is so involved in everything,” says Maddy McNamara, as senior Athletic Training major. “Our role is huge in helping the professors figure out how to deliver their message to students.”
Each shift is different—one day you might help a professor set up a presentation, and the next, you’ll be troubleshooting an AV issue in a lecture hall or setting up a 3D print order. The work keeps you engaged and constantly learning.
“All the skill development is super cool, and the environment and the diversity of the work makes it interesting,” says Dustin Mostoller, a senior Aerospace Engineering major. “I started on the help line and every problem is different. They are all puzzles with different issues. Work in the Digital Unions gives you a set of different puzzles. It’s something new all the time. In this job I can create something new and fix problems.”
Working in Classroom Services provides student workers with more than spending money because you develop skills like customer service, problem-solving, and technical expertise – assets that will serve you in any future career. And with opportunities for advancement, students who opt to stay for multiple semesters can eventually take on leadership roles and expand their experience even further.
“I have worked for Classroom Services since I started at OSU and I was interested in the job because I wanted something technical, " says Alina Mueez, a senior Information Systems major. "But the most useful things I have learned are the soft skills – like using non-technical terms with customers and mentoring two new students on our team. The communication skills I've picked up have helped a lot during college and I know they will be valuable in my professional career.”
