Master Courses in CarmenCanvas Retiring February 16
On February 16, the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) will be retiring the option to create Master Courses in CarmenCanvas. These non-academic course shells were used for course development sandboxes, blueprint courses and more. Although new courses of this particular type will no longer be an option, Forum Courses will remain and serve the same purpose.
OTDI is making this change to simplify our learning management system and retire a redundant feature with an outdated name. This change supports our commitments to DEIJ initiatives and continual service improvement.
After February 16, you will be able to request a Forum Course from the Carmen landing page to use for your academic course development purposes. Requests will be completed by the eLearning Support team within 1-2 business days.
If you are looking to use a Forum Course for other purposes, such as staff training, please reach out to the eLearning Support Team. They would be happy to consult and help you decide if Carmen really is the right fit for your use case, given OTDI’s breadth of service offerings (BuckeyeLearn, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive, etc.)
Existing Master Courses will not go away as a result of this change, and you may continue to use them as long as they are useful to you.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve our service offerings.
