Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation app for work. Vids can be used to create, write, produce, edit, collaborate, and share videos.
Google Vids bridges collaborative document editing and simple video creation. Google Vids treats video creation as an interactive document project rather than a traditional timeline edit or graphic design canvas. Google Workspace integration script driven AI storyboarding and true live co-editing are the primary differences from other video applications.
Key Features and Benefits
- Gemini AI Storyboarding: Drafts scripts, builds scene-by-scene outlines, and pulls media directly from a prompt or linked Google Doc.
- Instant Drive Sharing: Files reside natively in Google Drive. Permissions, link sharing, and comment threads work identically to Docs or Sheets, allowing instant playback without waiting for rendering or exporting MP4 files.
- Integrated Recording Studio: Captures webcam footage, screen shares, and audio with an adjustable floating teleprompter that syncs directly with the screen script, letting users read notes while maintaining direct eye contact with the webcam.
- Turn Docs into Videos Automatically: Gemini AI reads Google Docs or Slides and creates a script and visual outline, rather than starting from scratch, typing out prompts, or selecting templates.
- Real-Time Multiplayer Co-Editing: Multiple collaborators can edit scenes, tweak scripts, and modify assets simultaneously in the exact same file with live cursors—just like a Google Doc.
- Royalty-Free Stock & AI Audio: Includes access to stock footage, music, graphics, and realistic AI text-to-speech voiceovers.
- Slide-Based Storyboard (No Video Timeline): Instead of multi-track editing timelines or design canvases Vids uses a scene-card format modeled after Google Slides.
Google Vids can be accessed from the Vids icon in Google Dashboard or through the web browser at http://www.google.com/vids. Remember, log in using your Ohio State username (lastname.#@osu.edu) and password to use the Ohio State managed account.
