Requesting Access to Enterprise Data for Analytics

There are two modes of access to enterprise analytics data:

  1. Reporting Access - Access to pre-built reports & dashboards that are available in tools like Tableau Server (and its attachment component in OASIS) or SSRS. Requesting access to a "reporting" data domain will grant you privileges to login and view these objects in Tableau Server and may grant you access in SSRS as well.
  2. Direct Access - Access to the core data of the RAE, which requires database, SQL, and other skills. This access will allow you to connect your SQL query tools to the database in order to browse, query, and interact with tables and views within the domain you requested.

When requesting access to analytics data, a user can select one or both of these options.

 

Enterprise Tableau Domain Security: Your Enterprise Tableau Domain Security access determines what you can see within the Enterprise Reporting area of Tableau Server. For more information, refer to the Enterprise Tableau Domain Security job aid.

  • Navigate and login to the ServiceNow self-service site
  • Select Order Services
  • Select Access Management
  • Click Enterprise Data for Analytics Access Request

In the form, indicate the type of domains you are requesting access to and the type of request (direct or reporting)

  1. User Information: Make sure User Information is populating correctly if requesting for yourself or on behalf of another user.

  2.  Request Type: Select New or Modify Account/Access.

    Note: If you are not sure what to ask for or just have a general security question, please choose "Security Consultation"

  3. Justification: Describe analysis planned with this access request.
    • Be as thorough and detailed as possible. Data domain stewards will use this information to determine eligibility for granting access, incomplete or limited information may lead to a delay in granting access requests
  4. Data Domain Selection: Select the data domain(s) for which you are requesting access.
    • If you ONLY need reporting access through tools like Tableau or SSRS, only choose the "Reporting" option for the domains you request. If you plan to access the RAE directly with advanced data authoring tools choose the "Direct" option; if you need both, then choose both options.
  5. OASIS Selection: Select the applicable OASIS Attachments Access to accompany. Tableau domain selections in step 4.
  6. Click the link to read the Data Use Agreement, then click "I accept the terms and conditions above".

After submitting your request, it will be routed to the stewards of the domains that you selected. Some domains have multiple stewards. Each steward will need to approve your access request before it moves forward into the user ID setup and configuration process.
