Purchasing Claude Licensing

Claude is an AI assistant from Anthropic. This article will walk the university community through the purchasing process for Claude Standard or Premium Licenses.

The purchase process is two parts. First submitting a requisition in Workday and then submitting the order through OTDI Self Service.

Part One - Create the Requsition

  1. Start by logging into Workday using your university username and password.
  2. Select Request Travel or Purchase.

     button.

  2. In the Search for goods and services box type claude and select the Enter key on your keyboard.
  3. Choose the correct type of license and enter the required quantity. Select Add to Cart. You may only submit a Purchase Order for one license type at a time.
    1. You can only order ONE type of license per Purchase Order. If you need 2 different licenses, such as Claude Standard and Claude Premium that will require TWO separate purchase orders.
    2. Feel free to order more licenses than you need, but it is for ONE license type. It costs nothing until the individual licenses are actually provisioned.

button. The requisition has been submitted. Once the requisition becomes a Purchase Order (this is about a 3-to-5-day turnaround time so please be patient) THEN the second phase can begin, and the Order needs to be placed.

Part Two - Submit the Request in ServiceNow

Once the PO has been obtained go to the OTDI's Self Service on Demand software portal. You will need to log in using your university credentials.

  1. Select the appropriate license type. Remember, you can only submit requests for ONE software type at a time. But you may order multiple licenses of that type.
    1. Example: If you are ordering Claude Enterprise licenses and Claude Standard licenses there are TWO requests that need to be made in Service Now. You should have one purchase order for each license type.

     button.

  3. Select the Usage Type and enter the PO Number.
