HR Connection Launches September 21

Since the start of the HR Service Delivery (HRSD) project, HR and payroll leaders and team members have been working together with university and medical center leaders to redesign the HR and payroll model. The HRSD model combines the best of in-unit and shared HR support for all faculty, staff and student employees across the university and medical center. We are approaching a critical milestone on Monday, September 21, 2020 with the launch of HR Connection, our shared services operation. Starting on this date, customers will access HR Connection for their HR and payroll needs.

As part of Ohio State’s HR Service Delivery model, there will be dedicated HR resources, HR Business Partners (HRBP) and HR Consultants (HRC), aligned to each college/unit. HRBPs and HRCs will work together to provide HR support and strategic partnership in implementing initiatives, training and recruitment strategies to enhance organizational performance and meet the missions and goals of each college/unit.

Centers of Expertise (CoEs) are another component in Ohio State University’s HR and Payroll Service Delivery model. CoEs develop strategic services and capabilities across the organization and are aligned to one of the following functional areas: Benefits, Compensation, Employee and Labor Relations or Talent Excellence. While Payroll Services is not an HR CoE, as it operates under Business and Finance, it is another key functional area that provides support to customers.

Ohio State HR’s shared services operation,HR Connection, is a critical component of the HR Service Delivery (HRSD) model and will be the main point of contact for HR and payroll support for all Ohio State employees. HR Connection will replace all existing HR service centers across the university and the health system, allowing the HR and payroll organization to provide consistent and high-quality services to all customers. HR Connection can be accessed using Compass, the HR Connection Portal, by email at HRConnection@osu.edu, and by phone at 614-297-6947 (myHR)*. The HR Connection Portal will be available 24/7 and the HR Connection hours of operation will be 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
