New Microsoft 365 Features Coming in May

Enhancements to Teams and Outlook will enable you to do more and to improve your workflow when using these tools. Enhancements include a new “Discover” feed being introduced in Teams, an update to the To Do app in Microsoft Outlook Mobile, and more. Read on for more details about upcoming enhancements. 

Microsoft Teams Updates 

"Microsoft Teams (work or school)" name shortened to "Microsoft Teams"

The "Microsoft Teams (work or school)" application on Windows and macOS will be renamed to "Microsoft Teams." The New Teams on Windows and macOS applications will be changing its name from “Microsoft Teams (work or school)” to “Microsoft Teams.” The Microsoft Teams personal application on Windows 11 will also be renamed to “Microsoft Teams – personal” if installed on the device. 

WHEN: Microsoft has begun rolling out this enhancement and will complete it by the end of June 2024. 

HOW: Users do not need to take any action. 

Teams Discover Feed 

The Teams Discover Feed is a personalized, scrollable feed of Teams channel content that helps you catch up on posts from people, topics, and channels. You can like, comment, or share posts from the Discover Feed just like any other channel post. 

WHEN: Microsoft has begun rolling out this enhancement and will complete it by the end of May 2024. 

HOW: When you view your Teams as a List, Discover will be at the top. This feature is not available in Grid view. More information is available on Microsoft’s site in the article, First things to know about Teams Discover Feed

 General updates 

To Do app integration in Outlook Mobile 

Microsoft is rolling out "To Do" app integration in Outlook Mobile for Android and iOS for all. Once available, users need to update Outlook app to the latest version, tap the Apps tab in the navigation bar, and then go to All Apps and tap To Do.  

WHEN: Microsoft has begun rolling out this enhancement and will complete it by the end of June 2024. 

HOW: For easier access, users can reorder the app and move it to the Pinned section, pinning it to the navigation bar.
