Cory Tressler
Cory Tressler oversees learning technology work around student access and success, with teams leading enterprise learning tools, classroom technology, innovative teaching, and Ohio State's Digital Flagship program, providing free technology and coding curriculum to all undergraduates and the Affordable Learning Exchange.
He joined The Ohio State University as part of the Digital First initiative. He assisted with developing over 90 open online iTunes U courses, the OSU Marching Band iPad program, the delivery of digital pedagogy-focused professional learning for faculty, and the management of the Digital First Impact Grant program.
In 2018, he helped create, launch, and lead Ohio State's Digital Flagship student success program, which focuses on providing students with equitable access to technology and building their digital skills to empower them towards success academically and professionally.
Cory serves on a wide range of university academic committees, including those focused on the general education redesign, college credit plus, and workforce development, and has completed both the Educause CIO Leadership and MOR Associates CIO Leadership programs. Cory's work is motivated by a relentless desire to create environments that enable student success by providing students with support, access, and experiences that enrich their understanding of the world and inspire an unending intellectual curiosity. In addition to helping lead learning technology at Ohio State, Cory teaches a study abroad course on the British Invasion music of the 1960s (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, etc.) and the cyclical relationship the artists and their music had with American culture, wherein the British musicians were influenced heavily by American music and culture and then had an almost immeasurable impact on American music and culture after they became successful.
He earned multiple undergraduate degrees (English and African & African American Studies) at The Ohio State University, a Master of Arts in teaching degree at the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Educational Studies focusing on learning technologies from The Ohio State University. In 2015, he was named an Apple Distinguished Educator, and in 2020, he was recognized with the university's Distinguished Staff Award.
