August Financials Project Update

Hello Financials users,

This is the latest Financials Project update since the message shared in June. All updates are also available on the administrative system users NewsLink page. Without further ado, here is your August update.

Save the Date: July 2018

This is exciting! The current go-live date for Workday Finance at Ohio State is July 2018. Timeline information is available on the Financials Project website.

Financials Project Website

Speaking of the website, the Financials Project website ( is now live and is your best source for Workday Finance information. In addition to an archive of project communications, the site features an About section that includes the previously mentioned timeline as well as a listing of the leaders and advisors who provide team structure and direction. In the Learn More section, youll find answers to frequently asked questions and a glossary. And, as we get closer to July 2018, we will update the Get Ready section with training information and everything else you will need to be ready for the new system.

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center eMaterials (eMat) System

A new development shared during the last project team meeting was the news that it will not be necessary to upgrade eMaterials prior to moving to Workday in July 2018. In addition to saving time and money, eMat users will not have to go through two system changes in quick succession.

Up next: Architect Phase

At a high level, the purpose of this phase is to document the setup and configuration of Workday for Ohio State. This means we will need to make important design decisions necessary for the Workday deployment and review a prototype for accuracy. To make that happen, project team members and representatives from across the university will work together to find a common understanding of business needs and to analyze how Workday will be used to meet those needs.

Thinking Forward

The implementation of Workday is foreshadowing exciting changes to come! We're implementing a solution, not just a system. Workday Finance will bring with it a new chart of accounts called the Foundation Data Model (FDM), the ability to replace non-PeopleSoft applications (eRequest, eTravel, etc.) and the opportunity to evaluate Workday in comparison to the current HR and Student Systems.

We look forward to working with you and to our continued partnership in building a great financials system for the future of Ohio State.
